Ian Massey, AIF

Ian Massey, AIF

Vice President of Wealth Planning, CFO

After starting his career as a financial advisor back in 2013, Ian Massey co-founded Providence Wealth Planning in 2016, with his father, Mark. He now serves as firm’s CFO, while faithfully servicing his clients as their financial advisor.

In 2021, Ian earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designation. As a fiduciary, it is Ian's commitment to always put his clients' interests ahead of his own. In the financial services industry, you unfortunately can't always trust that your advisor has your best interests at heart, which is why Ian is committed to looking out for his clients as if they were family. Ian believes in building lasting relationships with his clients, having a heart of a teacher, and always striving to make sound financial decisions. One thing you get when you work with Ian is straight-forward advice. He does not beat around the bush. Ian believes that if you pay someone to help you manage your household finances, that you need to make sure it is someone who will challenge your way of thinking and stop you from making poor decisions, instead of letting you do whatever you want. He believes that if you are going to pay someone for advice, make sure it's exceptional advice.

In August 2016, Ian was named as a Dave Ramsey SmartVestor Pro, providing advice and guidance to Dave Ramsey followers in Orange County and beyond. Ian has been helping the Dave Ramsey faithful work towards financial freedom since 2013.

Numbers have always fascinated Ian. At three years old, he could tell you the Anaheim Angels’ batting averages by heart. Today, his fascination with numbers spills over into his ability to remember his clients’ account balances and pets’ names. His natural curiosity led him to pursue a degree in literary journalism, while minoring in business management at the University of California, at Irvine. Ian won six California College Media writing awards during his time as a college sports columnist. While finishing his undergrad, Ian interned for the Ronnie Lott IMPACT Trophy and helped grow the college football organization’s social media, marketing and web presence.

After graduating from UC Irvine, Ian began his career in the financial services industry. Combining his love of developing relationships with people and working with numbers, Ian found his passion in helping others pursue financial independence. Ian prides himself on his ability to ask the right questions, to listen, and to help lead his clients to their most important short and long-term financial goals. He works with families to help align their financial decision-making with their financial goals; because so often what we want to accomplish and what we’re doing to accomplish it really don’t add up. Ian firmly believes that he shouldn’t and wouldn’t recommend a plan of action to his clients unless he would do it if he was in their shoes. Just as he works hard to shape his clients’ futures, Ian is passionate about changing his own family tree and working hard to provide for his family’s future.

In January 2018, Ian married his best friend, Roxanne. In true Dave Ramsey fashion, they made sure to pay cash for their wedding and cars. Today, they live in Mission Viejo, California. Together they care for their son, Graeme, and obsess over their dogs, Farley and Phoebe. They also enjoy attending church, traveling, going to concerts and sporting events, and volunteering for charities such as the Ronald McDonald House and Rays of Funshine. In his free time, Ian plays golf left-handed; he is still in pursuit of his first hole-in-one.

Ian heads up the Providence Wealth Planning Charity Golf Tournament each year, which raises valuable funds for the Orange County Ronald McDonald House.

Ian is an Investment Advisory Representative and has Series 6, 7 and 63 registrations held with LPL Financial, and Series 65 held with Strategic Wealth Advisors Group, Inc., as well as California life and long- term care insurance licenses.
